Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)
DHA is the most abundant essential fatty acid (EFA) in the brain, comprising 25-35% DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid). DHA is found in even greater concentrations of 50-60% in the retina. In humans, DHA not consumed in the diet is biosynthesized via the conversion of Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) to DHA. It plays a significant role in brain and eye development during pregnancy and also reduces pregnancy complications.
L-Methylfolate (LMF)
LMF plays a vital role in preventing birth defects and aids in the improvement of brain development. L-MF is highly essential in the synthesis of nucleic acids, normal cell growth and reproduction. Folic acid is a synthetic compound that has no biological function unless it is reduced by a multistep reaction into L-Methylfolate. The MTHFR is an enzyme involved in the metabolism of folate. The MTHFR (Methylene Tetrahydrofolate Reductase) catalyzes the conversion of 5,10- MTHF to L-Methylfolate, the major circulating and active form of folate. In turn, L-5-MTHF is involved in the conversion of homocysteine to methionine. The MTHFR has an important role in maintaining folate and methionine levels, as well as helping to keep circulating homocysteine levels low. The mutations in MTHFR can lead to MTHFR polymorphism that in turn affect the formation of L-methyl folate and is responsible for critical pregnancy complications like hyperhomocysteinemia, Neural tube defects, IUGR iodine is essential for the development of the fetal brain and nervous system Delivate Plus is the ideal combination in pregnancy & lactation.
Iodine:
Iodine is predominantly seen in tissues of the thyroid, mammary & salivary glands, and cervix. The thyroid gland actively absorbs iodide from blood incorporating thyroid hormones. A healthy adult body contains 15-20 mg of iodine, 70-80% of which is stored in the thyroid gland. During pregnancy and lactation, iodides cross the placenta and are excreted in breast milk play a vital role in fetal and infant neurological development
Methylcobalamin:
Methylcobalamin and Mecobalamin are the two biologically active forms of Vitamin B12. Methylcobalamin acts as an important cofactor of methionine synthesis, supplements of methylcobalamin enhance the efficiency of Homocysteine consumption and reduce its concentration. Thus, lowering homocysteine concentrations to the normal range (4 – 15 μmol/l) seems to be an effective therapeutic method in decreasing the risks of hematologic, and neurological symptoms, hyperhomocysteinemia & neural tube defects.
Pyridoxal 5 phosphate:
Vitamin B6 plays a crucial role in the physiologic development and function of the central nervous system. Pyridoxal phosphate, the activated form of vitamin B6, acts as a coenzyme in approximately 100 reactions of human metabolism.
